The UG Department of Industrial Relations was established in the year 1986 by the visionary Principal Rev Dr Joseph Chinnappa Nelapathy. The subject was offered in BA along with Economics and Sociology. With the introduction of the National Education Policy in Karnataka, the subject is offered in BA along with Economics.

The Papers offered in Industrial Relations are of great help to students desirous of higher studies and careers in Management, Law, Social Work, etc.

The Alumni of the Department are well-placed in various corporates as HR Managers, Academicians in prestigious Universities and Colleges, NGO Officials, etc.

Vision

To Develop and Establish the Department as a sought-after academic centre for undergraduate studies, enabling students to have a constant progression of knowledge pertaining to Industrial Relations with special emphasis on Indian Industrial Relations.

Mission

  • The Department of Industrial Relations aims to familiarize students with the structure and dynamics of Industrial Organization and the Tri-partite nature of Industrial Relations.
  • The Department of Industrial Relations aims to enable students understand the basic concepts of the discipline and help them analyze various dimensions of Industrial Relations in both pre and post liberalization period in India. It emphasizes on developing skills required for a career in the field of Industrial Relations.

Greetings and a warm welcome from the School of Humanities!

The School of Humanities, under St Joseph’s University was created to provide learning spaces, with 7 departments and an associate department, the Department of Physical Education. Of the 7 departments, 5 departments have antecedent of more than 140 years in contributing to the motto of the Institution 'Fide et Labore'- meaning faith and toil.
