The Department of Hindi of St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, is one of the oldest and leading Departments in South India. It was started in the year 1951. At present, the Department offers Hindi as a second language paper for BA, BSc, BCom, BBA & BCA students. Keeping in view, the present challenges, both at the national and global levels the Undergraduate programme is designed to give a more inclusive and expansive approach to Hindi literature and functional aspects of the Hindi language.
The Hindi Parishad is a cultural association, which was started in the year 1951. The college had become autonomous in the year of 2006 and it also became co-educative. The strength of the Hindi students had increased by leaps and bounds. The present strength of the students is 1200. The department is looking to provide a syllabus that is relevant and job oriented while at the same time making the students feel at ease. Also, the department has organised state-level, national-level seminars, webinars, and workshops to promote the Hindi language among the students.

M (1995-2018), Dr. Pathan Hasan (2016 onwards).
