Dear Staff and Students,
In today’s modern scientific world, the field of counselling and psychotherapy has grown in prominence, we understand how critical it is to cater to the mental health concerns of individuals as we strongly value their well-being. Decades ago, psychiatric treatment was only meant for those with serious “mental illness”. Seeking professional help for mental health was seen as a taboo. However, today it is making inroads in all the fields of professional and personal development and working with a counsellor is recognised to be an important avenue to improve one’s abilities to cope and manage various situations in life.
Here, at SJU, we give utmost priority to promoting and facilitating mental health services, as we believe the mental health of our students and staff to be an essential requirement to serve the vision of our institution. Hence, we have a team of competent and dedicated counsellors who are trained professionals equipped to deal with a wide variety of challenges faced by the students and staff. We have ten counselling cabins strategically placed in all the blocks of the campus to provide easy accessibility to our students and staff.
My vision is to see the counselling department grow and make a difference, by creating a safe space for all who come and thereby be agents of change. I sincerely request each one of you on campus to make the best use of this wonderful facility in order to live a peaceful, stress-free and harmonious life.
