Theatre Studies was introduced in 2019 as one major in a three-major BA course with the other majors being Optional English and Psychology. The Theatre Studies course is visualised as a creative collaboration between the Department of English and practitioners of the theatre arts. Optional English gives you a general perspective of the English language with basic knowledge of grammar and some selected literature.  The streamed syllabus model of English was introduced to ensure that equal attention is given to students from all backgrounds while assisting them to improve their language skills. The programme aims to balance academic rigour in reading and writing with hands-on training in performance and production skills. This programme also takes into consideration that cognition, perception, consciousness, empathy, presence, authenticity and identity are all psychological processes that play an important part in theatrical acting.
