EVALUATION SYSTEM (THEORY PAPERS)

Evaluation of PG and UG courses consists of two components, viz.

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT (CA) AND SEMESTER EXAMINATION (SE) WITH A WEIGHTAGE OF 30% AND 70% RESPECTIVELY.

The practical evaluation, like theory, also involves two components; practical internal assessment (PIA) and semester examination (SE) with a weightage of 30% and 70% respectively. Continuous assessment for UG courses: 10% of the total marks per paper will be awarded based on the performance in any one activity (seminar, assignment, project, quiz, classroom discussion, model making, etc.) Another 15% of the marks will be awarded on the basis of a mid-Semester Test held midway through the semester. 5 marks will be awarded based on the percentage of attendance in theory classes. Continuous assessment for PG courses: 10% of the total marks per paper will be awarded based on the performance in any one activity (seminar, assignment, project, quiz, classroom discussion, model making, etc.) Another 20% of the marks will be awarded on the basis of a mid-Semester Test held midway through the semester.

ELIGIBILITY TO WRITE THE SEMESTER EXAMINATION AND ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

Only those students who secure a minimum 75% attendance in ‘each theory paper’ are eligible to write the Semester Examination. A student who is not eligible to write the semester examination has to repeat the semester.

SEMESTER EXAMINATION

A practical examination will be held after completing 14 weeks of the semester. The theory examination will be conducted in the 16th week of the semester.

TRANSPARENCY IN THE EXAMINATION SECTION

UG & PG students who were not satisfied with the evaluation can apply for revaluation or challenge valuation respectively within the stipulated time. However, there is no revaluation for practical examination, viva voce, dissertation and term paper.
